Box Score BRENHAM, TX- The Navarro College Volleyball team (4-2) fell in three sets to nationally ranked conference opponent (#3) Blinn College (8-0) last night at the Buccaneers home gym.
NC came close in two of teh three sets but were unsuccessful in their attempt against Blinn. Sophomore opposite, Ana Beatriz Nunes Dos Santos, led the dawgs both offensively with fourteen kills and defensively with seventeen digs. Sophomore outside, Lauren Tishkoff, was able to tie the lead with fourteen kills, respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
NC and the Buccaneers went back and forth with possession. A couple errors by the Buccaneers, along with a block by freshman middle blocker, Nia Mack, and sophomore opposite, Ana Beatrize Nunes Dos Santos, gave the Dawgs the early lead. Blinn came back with three aces before NC called a timeout. The Buccaneers went on a 3-0 run before a kill by Ana Beatriz Nunes Dos Santos gave NC the serve. The Dawgs went on a late 4-0 run with a kill by sophomore outside, Lauren Tishkoff, and an ace by sophomore middle blocker, Wiktoria Warpechowska. Blinn would take the set 25-19.
Second Set
The second set started with the Dawgs and the Buccaneers exchanging points back and forth before Blinn would take the lead. NC came back with a 3-0 run started by an ace from sophomore Wiktoria Warpechowska. Blinn would go on a 7-0 run and take the set on an NC error.
Third Set
Navarro started behind 1-7 before making a run of their own to tie the score 7-7. A 4-0 run by NC would put the Dawgs ahead with a setter dump by freshman, Eline Fieremans, followed by an ace from freshman outside, Maria Eduarda Dudao. Blinn would go on to lead by two points and finish out the set 25-23.
