Sophomore Lacey Murray scored twice during a three-goal flurry in the final 17 minutes Wednesday as Navarro posted a 5-0 Region XIV soccer victory over the Blinn Buccaneers.

Navarro (9-4) won its second consecutive shutout and its seventh of the season with the Sophomore Day win at The Roark Montgomery Soccer Complex.  The win, coupled with Tyler's 3-1 win over Angelina, left the Bulldogs and Roadrunners tied for second place in the league, heading into Saturday's final regular-season matches.

Wednesday's win completed a season sweep of the Buccaneers, which dropped their third straight match.  

Navarro broke the scoreless tie at the 21-minute mark when Latifha Pascal booted her first goal of the season, thanks to assists from Rafiatu Alhassan (6) and Guinevere Borja (4).

Alhassan padded the lead at the 53-minute mark by scoring her 17th goal of the season via a Jada Brown assist.

Murray connected at 73 and at 78 minutes for her 5th and 6th goals of the year to hike Navarro's lead to 4-0.  

Borja completed the Bulldogs scoring at the 80-minute juncture.

Grace Staunton and Alyssa Smith worked in goal and turned away four shots to preserve the shutout.

Saturday's final regular-season matches in Region XIV include Paris at Blinn (1:30 pm), Navarro at Northeast Texas (4 pm), Trinity Valley at Angelina (5 p.m.) and unbeaten, top-ranked Tyler at Jacksonville.
