Box Score By MIKE MONTFORT
The Bulldogs played that 87-65 win Wednesday over Bossier Parish just the way they Drue it up.
Sophomore transfer Drue Drinnon's game-high 26 points sparked a Navarro club that shot 56 percent from the floor and hit season single-game highs for three-pointers (10), assists (19), steals (16) and matched a team-high with seven blocked shots.
In addition, all 15 players contributed to this rout as coach Grant McMillan's team appears to be hitting its stride as it dominated in its third lopsided league victory in a row.
Drinnon, with his second 20-point-plus scoring game in five days and his fourth in the six games in which he has participated, hit 8-of-15 shots from the floor, including 5-of-9 from three-point range. Averaging 27 point from his last two games, Drinnon is hitting 45.5 percent from the floor and 57.1 percent beyond the arc (8-of-14) with a true 84 percent from the foul line (16-of-19).
Drinnon hit two marksman-like threes in the first five minutes; Akol Mawein followed with another and Jules Moor contributed another to begin the pullaway into a 20-6 lead.
The 'Dawgs led 43-34 at halftime and limited first-year coach J.A. Anglin's Cavaliers to 31 second-half points.
Three Bulldogs who have broken into the starting lineup continue to give energy and create the right mix.
Freshman Jaylen Harrison added 15 points from 7-of-11 shooting with six rebounds, two assists and two steals for NC. Jules Moor totaled nine points, with four boards, two assista, a team-high four steals and a blocked shot. And Sabry Philip netted six points, two rebounds and three steals. Sophomore Edward Manuekl came off the bench and delivered 12 points, hitting 5 of his 6 shot attempts.
Sophomore forward Brian Washington composed the night's most unusual line. The 6-foot-8 Washington scored four points, grabbed six rebounds, doled out a team-high eight assists and blocked three shots. Washington now has 17 career games with multiple shotblocks.
Navarro, while clearing the season record's .500 level, now sits only two games behind league-leading Panola and TVCC in sixth place in the tightening Region XIV standings. The Bulldogs next will host the Lamar State-Port Arthur Seahawks (3-4) Saturday at The Wolens Special Events Center.
