Jaylen Harrison,
Jules Moor and
Sabry Philip provided the spark and Navarro broke its three-game losing streak by shooting 50 percent from the floor in a 79-55 rout of the Paris Dragons here Wednesday at The Wolens SEC.
Harrison supplied energy with a personal season-high 23 points from 8-of-9 shooting that included 4-of-4 beyond the three-point arc. The 5-10 freshman from College Station added three rebounds, two assists and two steals in the effort.
Harrison's 23 points matched the Bulldog high this season, first totaled by Moor against TVCC last week.
Moor, meanwhile, fashioned Navarro's first double-double of the season. He tallied 13 points and 12 rebounds -- 6 offensive and 6 defensive.
Philip, a 6-foot-4 transfer from The University of San Diego, turned in a busy worksheet with eight points from 4-of-6 shooting, and added five rebounds, a blocked shot, an assist and a steal.
The three starters who combined for 18-of-26 shooting spearheaded Navarro's best marksmanship since its 56 percent effort in the opener against Coastal Bend. NC went 31-of-61 from the floor and much healthier 9-of-24 from three-point range.
Drue Drinnon added 14 points and a team-high five assists for NC.
The Bulldogs bounced out to a 15-4 lead five minutes into the game, but PJC responded with a 16-4 counter-punch over the next seven minutes.
Navarro came out of a 34-27 halftime lead with a 17-3 spurt for which the Dragons had no answer. The lead swelled to as many as 26 points in the second half.
Navarro travels Saturday to Kilgore for a 1 pm Region XIV game against the Rangers at Masters Gymnasium.
