Box Score TYLER -- Sophomore Mukarama Abdulai scored two goals and assisted on another as unbeaten, top-ranked Tyler claimed the Region XIV women's soccer championship with a 4-1 victory Friday over Navarro at Pat Harley Field.
Abdulai scored her 15th three minutes into the match and assisted on Natalie Martinez' sixth goal at the 31-minute mark of the first half.
Abdulai increased Tyler's 2-1 halftime lead with her 16th goal at the 61st minute. Skylar Parker added her fifth goal at the 80-minute juncture.
TJC won its 13th straight match and fourth in its series with Navarro.
The Apache Ladies will advance to the District Championship against Region V winner Hill (10-2) for a berth in the NJCAA Tournament. Hill extended its winning streak to 10 with a 4-0 championship win over Ranger and secured its seventh straight conference title.
The Hill-Tyler South District Championship matchup likely will be played at 5 pm Tuesday on Pat Hartley Field. Winner moves to the NJCAA Championships June 3-8 at Evans, Ga.
Navarro, with all three of its losses coming at the hands of TJC, likely will be among top candidates to earn one of the three at-large berths. Coach Alicia Wilson's Bulldogs have qualified as at-large tournament entries twice previously.
