Box Score Sophomore Rafiatu Alhassan scored Navarro's first hat trick of the season Sunday as the 14th-ranked Bulldogs dominated Northeast Texas, 5-0.
The Bulldogs' goal-scoring leader ran her season total to five by chipping in NC's first two goals midway during the first half and adding the third with five minutes left in the contest. The hat trick was her second against Northeast at the Roark Montgomery Soccer Complex. During a 9-0 win here over the Eagles on May 4, she punched in three goals.
Navarro snapped a two-match losing streak and improved to 2-2 overall, but remained unbeaten at home where it has outscored the opposition 16-0.
Isabella Benavidez tallied Navarro's final goals of each half and assisted on Alhassan's second goal of the game in the 29th minute of the first half folloowing a Kaede Yamaguchi corner kick. Benavidez scored at the 32-minute mark to create a 3-0 Bulldog halftime advantage Then, with some three minutes remaining in the game, she took a feed from Guinevere Borja and booted it into the back of the net to complete scoring.
The Bulldogs next will play at 3 pm Wednesday in a Region XIV match at Paris against the Lady Dragons.
