Navarro turned its homecoming celebration Saturday into a TVCC house wrecking.
The Bulldogs started each half by dropping 21-point bombs on TVCC  and watched a House of Cards collapse during a 61-10 win that sent seismic waves throughout the Southwest Junior College Football Conference. Coach Ryan Taylor's club not only broke a two-game losing streak, but shattered several marks in the 77-year, 105-game series – most prominently, single-game scoring and margin of victory.
So much for buying in to recent trends in this unpredictable series – like visitors winning six of the last seven meetings, or three contests decided by a point or two.  They didn't fit in Saturday's game plan.
The 'Dawgs piled up a season-high 61 points against TVCC for the second time in four years. Saturday's shocking 51-point victory margin surpassed the 1989 NJCAA Champions' 40-0 win in the annuals.Â
NC's decisive statistical edges also were confirmed in offensive plays (76-51), first downs (30-10) and total offense (484-191).
Navarro found the formula to break TVCC's five-game winning streak in Corsicana. It began with error0free play from quarterbacks Mason Shorb and Ryan Shackleton, who combined for 322 yards, plus four passing touchdowns and three rushing. It finished with during a 33-0 second-half shutout for a defensive unit that scored a safety, claimed three turnovers, yielded only four first downs and allowed just two third-down conversions in 12 tries.
Shorb was pinpoint on 20-of-29 passes for 254 yards, with touchdowns tosses of nine to Joe Perez, 26 to Aaron Woods, 65 to Malachai Jackson and 31 to Shawn Brown.
Shackleton accounted for 57 yards offense and scored twice on goal line keepers in each half. Three minutes into the game after JP Patterson's second interception of the season, Shackleton scored Navarro's first touchdown on a two-yard run that capped a five-play drive.
Navarro's statement win virtually assures a return Monday to the NJCAA Top 15 poll after weekend losses by (3) Mississippi Gulf Coast, (11) Cisco, (12) Jones, and (15) Highland Colleges.
In other SWJCFC games:
NMMI 20, CISCO 5 –  Bronc quarterback Elliott Paskett-Bell rushed for 103 yards and passed for 134 more as NMMI upset 11th ranked Cisco. Jack Nelson added field goals of 41 and 21 yards in the second half..
TYLR 13, BLINN 10 (2-OT) – Christian Baxter's 22-yard field goal in the second overtime stood up as Blinn fumbled on its countering possession. Baxter's field goal gave TJC its first lead of the game. Blinn held a 7-0 lead after three quarters. The Buccaneers drove four times inside the Apache 20-yard line and failed to score.
