Troy Potts has been named assistant basketball coach at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas.
At Navarro College, Potts is reuniting with his former boss Hunter Jenkins, the new head coach of the Bulldogs.
Prior to his arrival in Corsicana, Potts spent the 2025-26 season as an assistant coach at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kansas.
While at Hutchinson, Potts helped coach four Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference all-league players and helped three players receive NCAA Div. I offers. He also helped the Blue Dragons engineer five victories over nationally-ranked opponents, four of which were on the road.
Potts spent the 2024-25 season as an assistant coach under Jenkins at Frank Phillips Junior College in Borger, Texas.
He was part of a staff that oversaw a 21-victory improvement over the previous season as the Plainsmen posted a 25-9 record, reaching the NJCAA Div. I national tournament for the first time since 1958 and finished 15th in the national poll.
At FPC, Potts was instrumental in the development of Mady Traore (Washington) and LA Hayes (Texas-El Paso), Sherman Weatherspoon (Utah Valley) and Alem Fedzic (Southern Indiana).
Potts spent six seasons (2018-2024) as part of the Quincy University coaching staff. QU is an NCAA Div. II school located in his hometown of Quincy, Ill.
He started his career at Quincy serving as student director of basketball operations from 2018 to 2021 while attending class as a full-time undergraduate student.
Potts assisted the coaching staff with practice planning, gear management, equipment organization, travel itineraries and planning camps.
He also played an integral part in the development of Tanner Stuckman, a first team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selection who won a championship with
Patrioti Levice of the Tipos Slovakian Basketball League.
Potts served as graduate assistant coach for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons at QU. During the 2022-23 season, Potts assisted the program in returning to the GLVCÂ Tournament for the first time in six seasons.
A head coaching change late in the 2021-22 season gave Potts -- as a grad assistant -- an opportunity to share head coaching responsibilities and the Hawks responded with a 3-2 record to close out the season.Â
Â
He was elevated to assistant coach/head junior varsity coach on June 12, 2023.Â
Â
Potts graduated with a Masters of Business Administration degree in May 2023 after completing his undergraduate degree in business management in May 2021. Academically, Potts was awarded the Bonaventure Medal, one of the highest honors awarded by QU.
He also served as a coach with Michael Porter Junior Elite during the 2024, 2025 and 2026 summer seasons.
Â
Potts is a 2018 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School, where he was a two-year letterman on the basketball team.
QND compiled a two-year record of 47-12, winning two regionals and made an Illinois Class 2A Elite 8 appearance in 2016-17. After that season, the team's coaching staff selected Potts as recipient of the prestigious Raider Pride Award.
