Darnell started working as the assistant athletic trainer at Navarro College in August of 2024. He is certified and licensed as an athletic trainer, a certified clinical enhancement specialist, and a paramedic.
Darnell grew up in Dallas and graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in 2006. He played football while attending UMHB. While finishing up school at UMHB, Darnell obtained a yearlong internship with the New Orleans Saints.
He also earned his Master of Education in Physical Education from Tarleton State University in 2008. Darnell worked as the Head Athletic Trainer at Tarleton State for 3 years.
Darnell is currently a full-time firefighter and paramedic for the City of Mesquite. He started working there in January of 2019. Prior to joining the fire service, Darnell worked as an athletic trainer for Dallas ISD.
Darnell is married to Krystal and they have three children, Deshaun, Kalani, and Kori.
