ALVIN --  Navarro Softball broke a four-game losing streak Wednesday with a non-conference sweep of the Alvin Dolphins, 11-4 and 5-1.

Coach Jessica Karenke-Burke's team (4-4) broke open a pair of close games with big seventh-inning rallies to claim their second sweep of the year.  Navarro totaled 20 hits and stole eight bases during the twinbill, and, perhaps more significantly, scored nine of its total 16 runs when it mattered in the final inning. 

In Game 1, the Bulldogs padded a 6-4 lead with a five-run outburst created from singles by Alanna Islas and Bayja Newby, plus five Dolphin errors. 

Abby Willis broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run second-inning home run, and the Bulldogs, behind pitcher Brooklynn Swacker, held the upper hand throughout.  NC increased its lead to 6-2 in the sixth when Wills delivered a bases-loaded single that scored Newby, and Jenna Rude hoisted a sacrifice fly to right that brought Maddie Wright home. 

In Game 2, the Bulldogs broke from a 1-1 tie with a two-out, four-run uprising in the seventh.  London Reue's single plated courtesy runner Mackenzie Lakey with the go-ahead run.  Later, Tatum Briggs belted a bases-loaded double to left field that sent Reue, Wright and Islas home with insurance runs. 

Starter Braylee Forse got credit for a complete-game, six-hitter. 

NC scored its first run in the second when courtesy runner Hannah Triplett stole home.  Triplett was running for Willis, who had singled.  Alvin tied it in the fourth on Elizabeth Huggins' leadoff home run..
