Navarro competed well against Tyler Junior College in front of a packed Wolens Special Event Center. The gym was buzzing with the Navarro College Band, Nationally ranked Cheer team, Navarro students, and fans as the 'Dawgs held onto a five-set match Thursday Night.
The 'Dawgs were led by four front row attackers on the night by sophomore outside hitter Nataly Garcia, middle blockers Alexis Ratliff and Jada Close, as well as rightside hitter Aleksandra Rojecka. The backrow was successfully led by sophomore libero Patricia Pantoja and sophomores Shea Slusser and Nataly Garcia.
The first set was taken by the Apaches after the 'Dawgs had some unforced service errors. But the 'Dawgs came back strong by finishing a nail biting second set, 26-24. The pressure was on both sides of the court as NC came out strong in the fourth and fifth set. Nataly Garcia closed out the fifth set with a solo block against the Apaches.
The 'Dawgs have a challenging schedule ahead of them as they take on Blinn College this Saturday at 2 PM (CST) and Trinity Valley Community College on Monday at 6 PM (CST). Monday's match will be celebrated as Navarro College sophomore night. All student are welcome to participate in our event as we honor the sophomores at Navarro College.
