'Dogs Blister BPCC 86-76 For 5th Straight Win

BOSSIER, La. -- Hot-shooting Navarro got a game-high 21 points and seven assists from Drue Drinnon as the Bulldogs downed the Bossier Parish Cavaliers 86-76 Saturday at Billy Montgomery Gymnasium.

Coach Grant McMillan's Bulldogs won their fifth straight and 10th in their last 12 to jump into a second-place tie with the Panola Ponies, whch were trounced 90-69 Saturday by last-place Jacksonville at Curtis Carroll FIeldhouse.  The Bulldogs and Ponies each stand at 11-5 in Region XIV standings with four regular-season games remaining.

Drinnon scored in double figures for the 12th time this season, and broke 20 for the fifth time.  Region XIV's ninth-leading scorer (16.8 ppg) had not hit 20-plus since February 10 when he drilled 25 in NC's 87-65 win over BPCC.  Over his last three games, Drinnon is hitting 61.8 percent from the floor (21-of-34) and 50 percent of his three-point tries (9-of-18).

Freshman guard Jaylen Harrison nailed 18 points with six assists and two steals for the Bulldogs, which led at halftime 40-37.

Jules Moor totaled 16 points, five rebounds and two steals.

Edward Manuel matched Drinnon's 4-of-8 three-point shooting and finished with 13 points.

Brian Washington had a personal career-high 6 shotblocks Saturday.  Washington now has blocked a total of 87 shots in 42 of the 48 games in which he has appeared.  He's had 22 multiple-block games, including 5 last year against TVCC and six other games with 4, spanning two seasons.

BPCC got a team-high 16 points from Paul King and Fahmmi Mamo while watching its two-game winning streak end.

Navarro journeys Wednesday to Port Arthur to face the Lamar State Seahawks in a 4 pm game at the Carl Parker Center.
