Navarro Softball looks for a complete reversal of fortunes Saturday when the Trinity Valley Cardinals come here for a 1 pm Region XIV East Zone doubleheader.

The Bulldogs have yet to take advantage of a schedule that gave them three conference doubleheaders at home this week.  So far, a 1-3 showing against Kilgore and league-leading Bossier Parish has dropped NC below .500 for the season (11-13) and at the break-even point in conference play (5-5).  The three-game losing streak's sent the 'Dawgs spiraling from second place into fifth.

A Saturday turnaround against the rival Cardinals (20-5-1/5-3) would be the best elixir.

The teams split their last meeting March 10 at Drumgoole Field in Cain Park.  TVCC rallied for a 4-3 first-game win, and the Bulldogs bounced back for an 11-6 triumph in the nightcap.

On Wednesday, 15th-ranked Bossier Parish remained unbeaten after 10 league contests with a doubleheader sweep of the Bulldogs, 1-0 and 14-1 in five innings.  BPCC (25-5) extended its winning streak to 14 games and now owns a three-game zone lead over Tyler.

GAME 1: BPCC 1, NAVARRO 0

Lady Cavalier righthander Kiana Pogroszewski outdueled Navarro's Braylee Forse in a fast-moving, pitching gem and made an unearned run stand up for the shutout victory.

Pogroszewski, in an 82-pitch, routegoing effort, yielded three hits, walked one and struck out five. 

Forse, bidding for her fifth straight win, threw 93 pitches, surrendered only three hits, and gave up the unearned run in the fourth inning.  She threw 72 percent of her pitches for strikes (67).

Forse has worked 33 innings in her last five starts. The righthander has yielded 16 hits, two walks and only one earned run. 

In a two-out rally, BPCC rightfielder Kennedy Cox reached on error that enabled Hayley Ladner to score from second base after she had doubled to left. 

Navarro baserunners reached third on three occasions, but couldn't push home the equalizer.  

Game 2: BPCC 14, Navarro 1 (5 innings)

The Lady Cavaliers slugged three home runs in the nightcap, including a pair of two-run homers by Uchenna Jong Loy and Tualilia Sosi during an eight-run first inning. 

BPCC got seven hits from 11 batters who paraded to the plate in the bottom of the first.  Jong Loy hit her team-high 16th and Sosi drilled her 14th.

The Lady Cavaliers, scoring in each inning, got a two-out, fourth-inning solo home run by Precious Aholelei and added a two-out, two-run double by Cox in the fifth.

Winning pitcher in Game 2 was Primose Aholelei, who worked four innings.   

Tatum Briggs' fifth home run of the season accounted for Navarro's only run of the afternoon.
