KILGORE -- Playing its first games since April 3, Navarro Softball swept a Region XIV doubleheader Monday from the Kilgore Rangers and extended its winning streak to three games.

With 8-0 and 9-3 wins at The Ballpark of KC Commons, the Bulldogs climbed into fourth place in the East Zone (8-6) and evened their season record at 14-14, heading into Saturday's 1 pm doubleheader at league-leading Bossier Parish against the 11th-ranked Lady Cavaliers.

GAME 1:  Navarro 8, Kilgore 0 (5 innings)

Sophomore righthander Braylee Forse's one-hit shutout was backed by hitting support provided by Jada Woolley and Alanna Islas. 

Forse allowed only a one-out, first-inning single by freshman Caisson Nachtigall during an abbreviated 74-pitch start.  Forse ( walked one batter, hit another and struck out five.

Woolley drilled a two-out, two-run, fourth-inning double that broke up a scoreless duel between Forse and KC righthander Marissa Medina. Woolley's two-bagger brought home Kaitlynn Woodlee and London Reue who had walked. 

Five Bulldogs reached safely to open a six-run fifth inning.  Islas cracked a two-run double that plated Maddie Wright and Jenna Rude; Tatum Briggs tripled home Islas, and Reue popped a single to centerfield that scored Briggs. 

GAME 2:  Navarro 9, Kilgore 3

The Bulldogs unleashed a 15-hit attack, scored runs in five innings and cruised to the victory.

Wright went 4-for-5 at the plate and scored Navarro's first two runs.  Rude went 3-for-4 and knocked in three runs with a third-inning double and a two-out, fourth-inning single.   

Highlighting a three-run fifth inning was Jordyne Reese's two-run single and Abby Willis' sacrifice fly to left that enabled Harley Davis to score.

Winning reliever Brooklynn Swacker struck out the side in the bottom of the fifth after Kilgore put runners on the corners to start the inning. 

NC then tacked on two more runs in the sixth, thanks to Reue's bases-loaded walk and Reese's ground out.
