Box Score By MIKE MONTFORT
CISCO -- Running back Travis Dixon rushed for 191 yards and two touchdowns for unbeaten fourth-ranked Cisco, which capitalized on four Navarro turnovers and secured a 41-24 Southwest Junior College Football Conference victory Saturday at Chesley Field.
With back-up quarterbacks Grant Tisdale and Gage White directing an error-free offense to 369 yards, coach Ryan Taylor's Wranglers won their fifth straight game and find themselves on a collision course Saturday with undefeated, second-ranked Kilgore at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium.
Dixon scored on runs of eight and 30 yards as CJC successfully overcame Bulldog leads twice in the game -- the final, with a demoralizing unanswered flurry of 20 fourth-quarter points that erased a 24-21 Navarro lead.
Coach Scott Parr's Bulldogs (3-3) held statistical advantages in plays (78-55), a 200-yard passing edge, leads in total offense (468) and yardage (585).
And, they led in turnovers, too.
Sophomore quarterback Dodge Delozier, returning to start after a two-week absence, threw three interceptions for the first time in his NC career and it resulted in 102 return yards and a touchdown.
On the second quarter's second play with Navarro operating from the Cisco 18 yard line, linebacker Charles Gonzalez anticipated Delozier's swing pass, picked it off and won an 82-yard footrace to the Wrangler endzone. The touchdown hiked Cisco's lead to 21-9.
Inside the half's final 1:40, the Bulldogs regrouped with an eight-play, 85-yard scoring drive as Delozier sprayed passes to five different receivers -- capped by an 11-yarder threaded through traffic to Karl Reynolds on a third-down play. The two-minute drill featured pass plays of 34 to Tru Edwards and 16 to Louis Moore, plus Isaiah Robinson's game-long, 40-yard draw.
NC methodically marched 84 yards in 13 plays with its second possession of the second half and assumed a 24-21 lead. Elijah Hines peeled off his game-best 28-yard run, and the 'Dawgs used Reynolds and Edwards as principal contacts during the six-minute drive before Delozier hooked with Quentin Lee on a 13-yard scoring pass with 2:31 left in the third.
It was Lee's second TD catch of the day, following up a 38-yarder from Delozier that capped a seven-play, 80-yard drive with the opening kickoff.
Cisco's Kaleb Cue kicked a 35-yard field goal on the second play of the final period that equalized matters at 24.
After a three-and-out Navarro series, Cisco regained the lead for good with a six-play, 72-yard scoring drive that featured three Dixon runs totalling 49 yards.
Grant Tisdale, subbing for injured starter Cooper Bell, hit Ashtyn Hawkins on a 16-yard go-pattern with 11:17 to play.
NC turned the ball over on downs at the Cisco 36 with 7:54 to go. Later, the Wranglers capitalized on an illegal substitution penalty against Navarro during a fourth-and-two quick snap that appeared to come up short of necessary yardage. Cisco's time-consuming drive, extended by the penalty first-down, became points on the next play as Dixon raced 30 yards for a score that created a 14-point lead (38-24) at 5:07.
