Another scheduled nine-inning game ended early Friday as the Bulldogs scored four runs the easy way in the bottom of the seventh inning and closed out an 8-0 Region XIV East Zone conference win Friday over the Bossier Parish Cavaliers at Perry D. Graham Field.
Navarro (9-4/4-1), playing in its eighth run-rule decision of the season, won its second straight league game this week as second baseman Zac Vooletich went three-for-three at the plate with a double and a walk, scored three runs and knocked in one for coach Matt Podjenski's club.
Starting pitcher Cooper Randall and reliever Austin Ream combined on a neat, four-hit shutout. Randall allowed three hits and three walks while striking out six during an 86-pitch, five-inning effort. Ream hurled one-hut shutout relief over two innings and struck out two.
BPCC starter Zachary St. Pierre struck out 10 during a 102-pitch, six-inning performance and gave up only five hits, but was plagued by a Cavalier defense that committed six errors -- three that occurred during the decisive seventh inning.
Vooletich walked with one out in the first, moved to third base on an error, and scored the game's first run on Letney's ground out to second base.
Navarro added a third-inning run when Vooletich singled home Rugely, who led off with a single and stole second base. Designated hitter Tyler Dickey reached safely on an error that enabled Vooletich and Vergara to score and raise the count to 4-0.
THe Bulldogs and Cavaliers conclude their weekend conference series with a nnon doubleheader Saturday at Graham Field.
