Bulldogs Reap Rewards of 4-1 Win at Tyler

Friday's 4-1 win at Tyler's Pat Hartley Field meant a lot of things for coach Alicia Wilson;s Navarro Bulldogs.

The 13th consecutive win for the unbeaten, top-ranked Bulldogs completed their first conference  sweep of TJC since 2014, christened them as Region XIV regular-season champions and crowned them as top seeds with home field advantage for the regional tournament than that begins Friday, Oct. 25.

That's a lot to embrace, but there were enough hugs during the post-match celebration to grasp the accomplishment.

Sophomores Constance Agyemang, Wakana Ose, and Lawrencia Yeboah each scored goals and issued assists as the Bulldogs emerged from a 1-1 halftime tie to win the 50th  meeting between the nationally regarded soccer powers since 2008.

Five minutes into the match, Navarro made its quick-strike presence felt when Agyemang took Yeboah's pass and punched her17th goal past keeper Saki Tsuchiya.  It was the first of a single-match high four goals she gave up after allowing 10 in her previous 15 TJC starts.

Two minutes later, Gabrielle Thompson responded with an equalizing goal – her second as the only Region XIV player to score against Navarro so far this season.

Almost five minutes into the second half, freshman Maria Jose directed Ose's feed amd netted  her fifth goal to give NC a lead it never relinquished.

At 79:17, Ose cashed in passes from freshmen Tida Sido and Charo Rodriguez to beat Tsuchitya with her sixth goal.

Yeboah, a Ghanian transfer from TJC, capped scoring with her seventh goal. Coming via passes from Agyemang  and Zoe Nelson.

The Bulldogs close the regular season Tuesday with a 4 p.m. match against Paris at The Roark Montgomery Soccer Complex.

FREE KICKS:  Navarro has not trailed in a match this season -- 16 straight, including NJCAA Tournament Pool Play in 2023…..Since 2008, Corey Rose's TJC program has lost only 28 matches.  Exactly half – 14 – have been administered by Navarro.  Based on TJC and NJCAA stat archives, Navarro is the only program to score four goals against  the Apache Ladies – and the Bulldogs have done it twice (4-1 in 2016) ….Trick-Or-Treat: Playing fo r TJC last year, Yeboah scored a game-tying goal against Navarro on Halloween Night during a 3-2 Apache Ladies win. Agyemang now ranks eighth in goal scoring (17), third in assists (17) and fourth in points (51).  She's scored at least one point in 13 of 14 matches this fall, and 15 of her last 16, dating back to 2023 post-season.
