Jess Todd lived up to his 2007 billing as the top draft-able pitcher from Texas. The right-hander from Kilgore parlayed his growth and success at Navarro
College and The University of Arkansas becoming a second-round draft pick by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2007 MLB draft.
Originally signed to play at Texas Tech, Todd instead came to Navarro in 2006 and compiled a 9-2 record with a 1.42 earned-run average in his only season at Navarro. He is regarded by many as the best pitcher to ever take the mound for the Bulldogs.
In 23 appearances during his junior season at Arkansas, Todd went 9-3 with 2 saves. He had a 2.88 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 12.34 strikeouts per nine innings in the process of earning All-SEC Tournament honors for the Hogs.
